Codswallop CIC Statement Coronavirus (COVID-19)
It's a tricky time for us here at Codswallop. Our entire existence as a company is focused around bringing people together, which is proving to be more and more difficult in the current situation.
Times like this emphasise the absolute need for community and 'togetherness' whilst also following government advice and being responsible in decisions made. But we also recognise the vital role that the arts can play in times of desperation and we carry a responsibility to not let the arts become a victim of the Coronavirus.
Codswallop CIC’s approach to this is to assess the situation on a daily basis and to carry on unless directly told otherwise.
Our weekly community groups including Oddballs Theatre Makers, Just Sing and Hullabaloo will follow the lead of schools, which for the meantime is to keep calm and carry on! We understand that you may not be able to attend and we want you all to remain safe and well so please listen to your bodies! And if it gets to a point where we can no longer continue we will do our best to extend our creativity to online sessions where possible.
As for our events, our annual Codswallop CIC sharing on March 26th is being postponed in line with government advice, as well as ‘Boulder’ by Half A String Theatre Company on May 10th. However, our performances of ‘The Garden’ over Easter will continue as planned until further notice with the addition of extra performances if needed to accommodate smaller audience sizes. At this stage we are also still busy planning the Tales Told Festival in June.
We hope that you will continue to book tickets to our events safe in the knowledge that refunds and ticket swaps will be put in place if events are rescheduled or cancelled.
As a not-for-profit organisation we not only want to continue to be a support network and creative outlet to those in the community who need us, but we also want to support our freelance staff and other organisations from whom we hire rooms and services wherever we can and we hope that you - our lovely supporters - understand this decision.
Similarly, we, like many other Arts and events organisations are going to need the support from our community more than ever. So if you are able to and enjoy having a little bit of Codswallop in your life, please consider becoming a Patron of Codswallop CIC via the donate button below or more information can be found at https://www.codswallop.org.uk/support-us
Above all, stay safe and well… And we hope to see you in a session soon!
